Indian Rice Pudding/ Mutanjan Kheer Recipe

  • Pressure Cooker


  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 200 g condensed milk
  • ¼ cup almonds blanched, peeled, and chopped (optional)
  • 2 cardamoms
  • saffron
  • fried nuts for garnish


  • In a bowl, soak the uncooked rice in water for about 20 minutes
  • Heat a pressure cooker on low flame and add 3 cups of water, soaked rice, milk, cardamom, and saffron and cook it for about 15 minutes
  • Open the pressure cooker and add sugar and condensed milk and give it a stir
  • Let it cook for about 5-10 minutes
  • Add blanched, peeled, and chopped almonds and mix well. This step is optional
  • Garnish with fried nuts and serve hot or cold
